Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa YoganandaAutobiography of a Yogi
by Paramhansa Yogananda
reprint of the Philosophical Library 1946 First Edition (Crystal Clarity Publishers)
Walk, step by step, with this son of India, whose unwavering, lifelong resolve was to know God intimately, and to teach the Kriya Yoga of his gurus' lineage. His mother was a devotee of an Indian yogi guru, his father, an executive of the Indian railroad. Yogananda graduated from college and established a school for boys. Invited to speak in the US in 1920, he stayed on until his death in 1952. Towering above religious differences, Yogananda traveled and lectured to thousands of people, offered a follow-up correspondence course and encouraged meditation groups and centers around the world. His story of dynamic calm, love, strength and wisdom is a beacon of hope to anyone who hungers for God's presence. Reviewed by Roberta Beckman.

The Flawless Mirror by KamalaThe Flawless Mirror Temporarily Out of Stock
by Kamala
Swami Yogananda gave lovely young Mary Buchanan the name "Kamala," meaning lotus flower. She and her retired-physician mother first heard Yogananda speak in 1925, at Philharmonic Auditorium in Los Angeles. Off and on, Kamala and her mother lived and worked at Swami's Los Angeles headquarters and his Encinitas retreat center. Yogananda was a frequent guest at their beach cottage and mountain cabin. Kamala married a businessman, the couple became Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) ministers, and started meditation groups in Northern California. After Paramhansa Yogananda died in 1952, her personal contact with her guru continued, she had daytime visions, conscious sleep, and other such experiences of yogi adepts. She also wrote Priceless Precepts about Yogananda's teachings. Reviewed by Roberta Beckman.

God Alone by Sri GyanamataGod Alone
by Sri Gyanamata
Born in Canada, Edith Bissett grew up in a poor family and her formal education ended in the eighth grade. At age 30, she married for love a divinity student who went on to law school and to a collegiate post in Seattle. Edith was an insatiable reader and philosophical thinker. In spite of illnesses most of her life, her unflinching mission was to be of service to others. In 1925, Edith, her husband, and their son met Swami Yogananda in Seattle. In 1932, intuiting his coming death, her husband asked if Edith could live at SRF headquarters. In 1935, Yogananda had such confidence in her abilities that he put (Sister) Sri Gyanamata (mother of wisdom through devotion) in charge of Mt. Washington headquarters while he went abroad. Sister died in 1951. This book is filled with her prolific, deeply personal, and inspired writings. Reviewed by Roberta Beckman.

Only Love by Sri Daya MataOnly Love
by Sri Daya Mata
This book, as well as
Finding the Joy Within You: Personal Counsel for God-Centered Living, contains talks given by Mataji over the years in the U.S. and abroad. Faye Wright first attended Paramahansa Yogananda's classes in 1931, in Salt Lake City, as a girl of 17 with a severe blood disorder and bandages covering her swollen face. At age 15, she had already read the Bhagavad Gita and had vowed to devote her life to seeking God. Yogananda cured her disease and she became his "chela" (student)/devotee. Following the deaths of both Yogananda and the first president Rajasi Janakananda (James Lynn), Sri Daya Mata became President of Self-Realization Fellowship/Yogoda Satsanga Society of India in 1955 to the present. Throughout these books, Daya Mata punctuates each of her topics with what Yogananda taught on the subject, and describes the methods he used to train her. From an over-sensitive, shy girl, she became a strong, practical, communicative, God-centered person. Her messages are clear and useful in everyday life. Reviewed by Roberta Beckman.

The Second Coming of Christ
by Paramahansa Yogananda. In this groundbreaking new book Yogananda shares with us the power and clarity of his inner vision as he turns his attention upon the teachings of Jesus. This book has the power to revolutionize the teachings and practice of Christianity! As Yogananda himself says of this work, “...A thousand Christs sent to earth would not redeem its people unless they themsleves become Christlike by purifying and expanding their individual consciousness to receive therein the second coming of the Christ Consciousness as was manifested on Jesus...Contact with this Consciousness, experienced in the ever new joy of meditation, will be the real second coming of Christ - and it will take place right in the devotee’s own consciousness.” Reviewed by Jamey Potter

God Is For EveryoneGod Is For Everyone
by Yogananda, as taught to and understood by his disciple, J. Donald Walters (Swami Kriyananda).
This ground breaking book is not new. Rather it is a rewrite of Yogananda’s very first book, the Science of Religion, published in 1920. Kriyananda ‘s rewrite brings the ideas in this book to life. Yogananda says that the goal of all desire is Conscious Bliss, pleasure is counterfeit happiness and happiness counterfeit bliss. Since we are all consciously or unconsciously seeking bliss that only the spiritual quest can bring, everyone in the world is on the spiritual path whether they are aware of it or not! Fascinating reading!
