Dan Millman
Way of the Peaceful Warrior
by Dan Millman
This much loved book was originally published in 1980 and has recently been made into a major motion picture-watch for it! It is the story of a college student and world-champion athlete named Dan. It is also the story of Dan's journey from a sense that something is missing to moments of illumination. In prophetic dreams Dan is introduced to a white-haired man who chases away the grim reaper. This man, Socrates, who has an all-night gas station soon becomes Dan’s guide. The story is full of humor and heart, and has changed thousands of lives for more than 25 years. It is great read just for the entertainment, but watch out, it may be transformative as well! Reviewed by Connie Hill.

Everyday Enlightenment, The Twelve Gateways to Personal Growth
by Dan Millman
During a time of personal struggle Dan Millman experienced a consciousness explosion that changed his life. At first he tried to recreate that experience. Then he began to understand that peak experiences fade and everyday life is the universal path. This book is a tool to help us grow through daily challenges and evolve toward deeper awareness. Each of his twelve gates are expressed as a chapter such as Discover Your Worth, Reclaim Your Will, Trust Your Intuition, Face Your Fears, Illuminate Your Shadow. My present favorites are Manage Your Money and Serve Your World. In the money chapter Dan says, “If spiritual life begins on the ground, money forms the foundation on which to build.” This chapter is packed with new ways to work with and look at money. In Serve Your World he begins by quoting Lynn Twist, a founder of the Hunger Project: “People think service is a kind of charity-strong people giving to weak people... To me, true service is an experience of wholeness, fulfillment, fullness, self-reliance and self-sufficiency for all parties... A stand for the integrity of human life.” One can read this book cover to cover or just read where it opens for instant inspiration. Either way brings enlightenment to everyday life. Living on Purpose: Straight Answers to Life’s Tough
Questions by Dan Millman
Through a series of questions and answers, Dan, like a wise Dear Abby, illustrates the House (or life) Rule he learned from his mentor, Socrates. Dan uses stories, quotes and exercises to give answers to questions such as Why do the same problems keep cropping up? or How can I get over the fear of failure? or Is there a way to make the good times last? or Why don’t my prayers get answered? Each chapter can be used for daily focusing or the book can be picked up when inspiration is needed. As Dan says in the preface, “As you turn these pages, keep the faith in the higher truth that despite the dilemmas and difficulties of this world, our lives are a great Mystery, unfolding perfectly, in accord with universal laws, in the service of our awakening.” Reviewed by Connie Hill.
