Having the good fortune of being born into a deeply spiritual family, spirituality has always been an important part of my life. However, I believe the beginning of my spiritual quest began when I decided to learn to meditate at age 9. Since that time spirituality, which was always deeply ingrained subconsciously, has become more and more a conscious factor in my life. In this process of realizing the importance of spiritual development in my life, Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhasa Yogananda has had a profound influence on me both in reading its exciting tales as a child and also in feeling its profound depth while on a recent pilgrimage to India. I have always had a very strong interest in science and recently I have been fascinated by the convergence of science and spirituality and scientific experiments that for the first time clearly show there is a deeper reality to life. Inspired by the vision of a waste free society explored in Cradle to Cradle by William McDonough and Michael Braggart, I now plan to use my ability in science and engineering to work in some part of the exciting new field of sustainability.
I am currently having a wonderful time developing myself academically as well as spiritually at Maharishi University of Management. At this University where the whole student body meditates six times daily, I have the wonderful opportunity to greatly advance my spiritual development while pursuing a degree in Physics.
